Hamdi Malik is a Middle East analyst and associate fellow with the Washington Institute. He is the co-author of "Honored, Not Contained: The Future of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces." For more than a decade, his research investigated the political and security developments of post–Saddam Hussein Iraq. Since 2014 and with the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria he has focused his research on the transformation of the Shiite militias in Iraq.
