Two oil tankers come under attack in the Red Sea, sources say
Oil tankers transiting the Red Sea are facing renewed dangers while transiting one of the world's most critical chokepoints for crude.
DUBAI — Two oil tankers transiting the Red Sea and sailing under the flags of Saudi Arabia and Panama came under attack on Monday, sources told Al-Monitor.
The tankers Amjad, owned by Saudi Arabia's national shipping carrier Bahri, and Panamanian-flagged Blue Lagoon I came under attack around Hodeidah off the coast of Yemen, two sources confirmed.
Amjad, a very large crude carrier, loaded crude oil from Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura terminal and was headed to the Egyptian port of Ain Sukhna for storage, sources said.
Bahri was not available for comment.
