Israel pounds Yemen after Houthi missile strike near Tel Aviv airport: What to know
Foreign airlines are canceling flights to and from Israel after a missile launched from Yemen landed just outside the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport.
Reports out of Yemen late on Monday say that Israel has launched strikes on the port city of Hodeidah in retaliation for the Houthi strike on Ben Gurion Airport.
Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV said one of the strikes specifically targeted the Bajil cement factory in Hodeidah.
The Israeli military spokesperson’s office said Monday evening that the air force "struck targets of the Houthi terror regime in the Hodeida port and its environs," Kan reported. "The terror structures attacked serve as important source of revenue for the Houthi regime. The marine port in Hodeida serves for the transfer of Iranian weapons, military equipment and other terror means." The statement went on, "The Bajil cement factory east of Hodeida, which serves as an important economic resource of the Houthi terror regime and also for the construction of tunnels and military infrastructure, was also attacked."
This incident marks the sixth air strike by the Israeli military in Yemen since July 2024.
