Israel quietly deployed an Iron Dome system, interceptors and several dozen operators to the United Arab Emirates early in the Iran war, according to an April 26 Axios report, marking the first known combat use of the system outside Israel as Emirati ties with the Jewish state shift from political normalization toward military coordination.

Iron Dome batteries had previously been deployed to the United States for testing and evaluation, but were never used there in combat conditions. The deployment is also the first for Israel in a Gulf state and following the Abraham Accords in 2020.

The deployment offers a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes coordination that developed during the 40-day conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States. It also suggests that the war accelerated an existing trajectory under the Abraham Accords, pushing Gulf-Israel cooperation beyond intelligence sharing and diplomacy into real-time coordination under fire.
