Iran and the United States exchanged mixed signals on Thursday over the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile as Tehran prepares to respond to Washington’s latest proposal to end the war.

Iran’s ISNA news agency reported in the early hours of Thursday that Tehran is “engaged in discussions” over the US proposal and is preparing its response. The report added that the latest US offer has “reduced the gaps to some extent.”

The United States sent its latest proposal to Iran to end the nearly four-month-old war earlier this week.

Speaking on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said he would wait "a couple of days" for Tehran's response. “If I can save war by waiting a couple of days, if I can save people being killed by waiting a couple of days, I think it's a great thing to do,” he said.
