بينما يستمرّ الجيش الإسرائيليّ في عمليّاته العسكريّة على غزّة لليوم الـ16، وتردّ "حماس" والفصائل الفلسطينيّة بإطلاق الصواريخ، يجري حراك دبلوماسيّ غير مسبوق، في محاولة لوقف إطلاق النار، والتّوصل لتهدئة، وهذا ما تحّدث عنه "المونيتور" في مقال سابق.

وكان آخر هذه الجهود ما أعلنه الرّئيس الفلسطينيّ محمود عبّاس، مساء 22/7 في خطاب مفاجئ في رام الله عن توجّهه لمصر وإجراء محادثات مع الرئيس عبد الفتّاح السيسي وحركتي "حماس" و"الجهاد"، وسافر لتركيا وقطر، والتقى رئيس المكتب السياسيّ لحركة "حماس" خالد مشعل لوقف العدوان الإسرائيليّ، والتوصّل لوقف إطلاق النّار.

ثمّ عقدت القيادة الفلسطينيّة اجتماعاً طارئاً في رام الله فجر 23/7، وأصدرت بياناً تضامنيّاً مع غزّة، مندّداً بـ"جرائم الجيش الإسرائيليّ"، مؤكّدة "استمرار جهود وقف إطلاق النّار".
