Several Republican lawmakers categorically declared their opposition to the nuclear deal with Iran as soon as it was announced, leaving no doubt that it faces an uphill battle in Congress.

US lawmakers will have 60 days to review — and potentially vote against — the agreement once it's transmitted to Congress in the coming days. Congressional hawks, however, aren't waiting for the ink to dry as the campaign to derail the deal kicks into full swing.

"What I know of it thus far is unacceptable,” House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, told reporters on Tuesday. “If it is in fact as bad a deal as I think it is at this moment, we’re going to do everything we can to stop it."

And Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., vowed to "fight hard to reject this deal with every tool that we have," according to Politico.
