US election 2016: Can either candidate have a good week?
Here's what happened on the campaign trail the week of Aug. 8.
Donald Trump has been under attack with his loose words regarding world events lately, leading to condemnation from top figures from his own party.
On Aug. 8, 50 Republican national security experts denounced Trump's presidential candidacy and pledged not to vote for him.
"He is unable or unwilling to separate truth from falsehood. He does not encourage conflicting views. He lacks self-control and acts impetuously. He cannot tolerate personal criticism. He has alarmed our closest allies with his erratic behavior," the letter claims. "All of these are dangerous qualities in an individual who aspires to be President and Commander-in-Chief, with command of the U.S. nuclear arsenal."
Trump's campaign responded by saying the signatories deserve the "blame for making the world such a dangerous place."
