Egyptian singer repurposes pro-Mubarak song to praise Trump
After an Egyptian singer released a ballad in support of US President Donald Trump, his fellow citizens questioned whether it was a mockery of Trump or expressed real support for the US president.
CAIRO — An Egyptian singer’s ballad in praise of US President Donald Trump has gone viral in recent days, highlighting the growing support the US president has among supporters of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
“We chose him, elected him, with our love he'll always win. When he speaks our hearts listen because our rights are his vision. With our lives we trusted him, we chose him, elected him.”
These are the lyrics Wissam Magdy composed to express his support for Trump in the US elections set for Nov. 3.
The song was published on Magdy’s official social media pages Oct. 28. It has since been shared by thousands of fans in both Egypt and the United States. The song has over 30,000 views on Magdy’s official Facebook page, in addition to over 100,000 views on YouTube, not to mention tens of thousands of shares all over social media.
