Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said this afternoon that anyone who aided and abetted the Palestinian terrorist who fired at civilians last night in the center of Tel Aviv will pay a heavy price. Speaking at a joint press conference with Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Public Security Minister Omer Bar Lev, Bennett said, "Someone aided the terrorist in organizing [the attack] and obtaining the ammunition. Every murderer must know that we will get them, anyone who aids terrorists should know that the price they will pay will be unbearable."  

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said, “Last night, murderous terror struck in the heart of Tel Aviv. Young Israelis were murdered simply for being Israelis. This terror is the result of ongoing incitement by terrorist organizations driven by an ideology of hate. We will fight terror without compromise."

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted today, "We strongly condemn the terrorist attack that occurred in Israel today. We are thinking of the victims of today’s attack and the families of those killed. May the memories of those who passed be a blessing."

Earlier today, Bennett hailed the Israeli troops who tracked down and killed the Palestinian assailant who opened fire last night at a Tel Aviv bar. Reportedly, the assailant was discovered early this morning hiding near a mosque in Jaffa. Officers from the Yamam police counterterrorism unit and from the Shin Bet apparently spotted him when scouting the area. The officers called on the assailant to surrender, but he opened fire and was killed in the shootout by the troops.
