After Kuwait, Lebanon’s Aoun visits Egypt seeking reconstruction support

BEIRUT — Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in Cairo on Monday, in his latest effort to rally regional support for Lebanon’s reconstruction process after a devastating 13-month war with Israel.

What happened: The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the economic, infrastructure, energy and reconstruction fields, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency. Efforts to support Lebanon’s stability and to restore regional security and peace were also on the agenda.

At the conclusion of their talks, Aoun and Sisi addressed a joint press conference. The Lebanese president praised the Egyptian leader and his efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
