EU greenlights lifting Syria sanctions

It has been a good week for Syria and its new government, with the European Union approving the lifting of all economic sanctions on the wartorn country. The US is expected to follow in the bloc's footsteps, though rolling back those sanctions, some of which have been in place for over four decades, will be a convoluted process that will require approvals from Congress.
