Turkey's pre-NATO summit crackdown

Welcome back to AL-MONITOR Turkey, dear readers!

The week ended on a positive note for Turkey, at least for football lovers. Team Türkiye beat the United States 2-0 this morning after two successive defeats to weaker teams as celebrities like Paris Hilton and Brad Pitt looked on. The team's victory in Los Angeles doesn’t change the outcome. Turkey is out of the World Cup. Meanwhile, ethnic Kurdish players for Germany, Iran and Iraq thrilled Kurds across the globe with their superior performance, as I noted here.

Have a great weekend!
