An Arab TV drama series is seeking to portray what's happening inside Islamic State (IS) circles.

The "Gharabeeb Sood" ("Black Crows") series delves into the world of IS and the practices it boasts about such as raping women and children, trafficking organs, and torturing and executing prisoners. "Gharabeeb Sood," which premiered at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, has caught the interest of viewers across the Arab world.

The cast includes actors from several Arab countries including Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Kuwait. The production by Saudi-owned broadcaster MBC cost $10 million to make.

MBC said in a press statement May 18 that the series was inspired by IS actions and relied on real-life testimonies. "Gharabeeb Sood" shows how IS lures in young men and women in both Arab and Western societies and the brainwashing that targets their social, behavioral and psychological weaknesses. The production also exposes the organization’s severe and bloody crimes and its savage, oppressive and criminal behavior as well as how it treats its members and new recruits. The series tries to educate viewers about freedom of thought and other values.
