Oman will permit travelers with proof of vaccination to enter the country beginning Sept. 1, the Civil Aviation Authority said Monday.

In the circular posted to Twitter, the authority said it was lifting a ban on 18 countries that had been in place since June.

Under the new rules, travelers must have obtained their second vaccine dose no less than 14 days prior to arrival and are required to show a vaccine certificate with a QR code upon landing in the country. Travelers must also quarantine for seven days in Oman unless they present a negative PCR test conducted prior to travel.

To curb the spread of COVID-19, Oman had banned travel from countries including India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, a move that stranded scores of expat workers in their home countries.
