Bahrain’s flagship airline will add more London flights for the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix racing event.

Gulf Air will add a daily flight between London Heathrow Airport and Manama on March 16, 17, 21 and 22, bringing the total number of London-Manama flights on those days to three, the official Bahrain News Agency reported yesterday.

The Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix is one of the biggest Formula One racing events in the world. The sport is popular worldwide, including in the Gulf and the United Kingdom. The Bahrain Grand Prix was the first Formula One race to be held in the Middle East when it began in 2004.

The Grand Prix is a major tourist attraction for Bahrain. A record more than 34,000 people attended the race in 2019, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, only 4,500 went in 2021 amid coronavirus-related restrictions. In 2020, the event took place with no fans at all.
