Al-Monitor expands Gulf coverage with new talent led by Jennifer Gnana
WASHINGTON — Al-Monitor has expanded its coverage of energy, business and political dynamics in the Gulf region with the addition of Jennifer Gnana as Gulf correspondent. Gnana, formerly the Saudi correspondent for S&P Global Platts, brings years of expertise to her new role.
“I am thrilled to join the Al-Monitor team,” said Gnana, who is based in Dubai. “For over a decade, Al-Monitor has set the standard for independent, diverse and incisive reporting and analysis from the Middle East. Together, we will deliver in-depth reporting on the Gulf region during this pivotal moment in its history.”
Gnana previously worked as an energy reporter for The National and MEED before her roles at S&P Global and now Al-Monitor.
“Jennifer’s deep understanding of the Gulf’s political and economic transformation makes her a tremendous asset to the team,” said Joyce Karam, Al-Monitor’s senior news editor. “We are excited to elevate our Gulf coverage with Jennifer on board.”
Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Jamal Daniel, Al-Monitor is an award-winning media platform dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality coverage of the Middle East. Just two years after its founding, Al-Monitor received the International Press Institute’s prestigious Free Media Pioneer Award, making it the only US-based outlet focused on the Middle East to have earned that acknowledgment. The platform has since earned numerous additional accolades, including Online Journalism and Exemplary Media awards.
“Jennifer’s hiring is among the many exciting additions and changes taking place at Al-Monitor,” said Andrew Parasiliti, president of Al-Monitor, alluding to the launch of an Al-Monitor Institute, which will expand the platform's events programming.
Other recent hires at Al-Monitor include Rosaleen Carroll as news reporter, along with contributors Dale Aluf and Yun Sun on China, Barin Kayaoglu on Turkey, Megan Mineiro covering the US Congress and Francesco Schiavi on Gulf security and defense.
These new additions complement Al-Monitor's stellar team as the outlet continues to innovate, recently upgrading its website and soon launching a state-of-the-art mobile app.
