Beyond Jerusalem, what's behind Israeli embrace of Donald Trump?

JERUSALEM — If they were eligible to vote in the US presidential elections, Israelis would pick Republican candidate Donald Trump by an overwhelming majority over his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Recent polling data indicates strong support for Trump not only among politically right-wing Israelis but also among centrists, such as supporters of National Unity party head Benny Gantz and Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid. Harris is a favorite only among Israelis who identify with the political liberal left.
Polls: Right-wing and center Israelis on Trump’s side
A recently published in-depth survey by the Mitvim Institute for Regional Foreign Policy, a think tank that promotes a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, found that Trump led Harris by a wide margin among Israelis of all ethnicities and religious affiliations, as well as among both genders.
