ANKARA — Turkey is waiting for an offer to purchase Eurofighter jets, a high-level Turkish Defense Ministry official said Thursday.

“We expect to receive the price offer in the coming days,” the official told reporters during a press briefing, adding that Ankara had already submitted a document outlining its technical, logistical and operational needs from the sale.

In 2023 Turkey submitted its bid to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, manufactured by a consortium of the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany, but failed to secure Germany’s green light until last year.

Berlin reportedly gave the nod for the sale in return for a deal with Ankara for accepting irregular Turkish migrants back into the country.
