US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he is undecided on whether to refer to the body of water broadly known as the "Persian Gulf" instead as the "Arabian Gulf."

What happened: Trump told reporters in the White House that he "will have to make a decision" about the name, but as of Wednesday afternoon he still hasn't decided.

"I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. I don't know if feelings are going to be hurt," he said. The comments follow a report from the Associated Press on Wednesday that Trump plans to announce in Saudi Arabia next week that the United States will refer to the Persian Gulf as the "Arabian Gulf” or the “Gulf of Arabia.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Al-Monitor's request for comment.
