FBI raids home of Iran hawk and Trump critic John Bolton: What to know

The Trump administration accused former adviser John Bolton of releasing classified material with the publication of his memoir, while Turkey took issue with an excerpt on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The FBI raided the home of former US national security adviser John Bolton in an effort to find classified materials on Friday, according to multiple reports. The confidant-turned-critic of President Donald Trump has been rebuked by the administration as well as Turkey for disclosures in his book.

What happened: Agents raided Bolton’s home outside of Washington on Friday morning, the New York Post reported. The raid was later confirmed by multiple other outlets. NBC reported that the investigation is related to national security and involved a search for classified records.

Bolton has not commented on the news.

In an interview with NBC on Friday, Vice President JD Vance confirmed the investigation relates to classified documents and said Bolton is under investigation.
