Under fire at home over Board of Peace, Netanyahu hints Trump could OK Gaza war restart

According to diplomatic sources, Netanyahu believes that at some point Israel will receive a green light from the Trump administration to resume fighting in Gaza, though his coalition partners do not seem reassured.

TEL AVIV — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has joined President Donald Trump's Board of Peace for overseeing postwar governance in Gaza, but did so with obvious reluctance.

Had any other Israeli prime minister joined a body whose key members include the Islamist governments of Qatar and regional rival Turkey, Netanyahu would have excoriated them. Instead, he accepted Trump’s invitation. His one-sentence statement on Wednesday was only, “The prime minister has decided to join the Board of Peace to be comprised of world leaders.”

Netanyahu’s office had previously objected to the composition of the board’s executive committee, saying on Saturday that it had been formed without coordination with the Israeli government and was "contrary to its policy."
