WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump warned on Wednesday that Iran would "pay the price" for delaying a deal with Washington and indicated he was nearing a decision on whether to launch additional strikes on the country.

The president also warned Iran that US retaliation for the downing of a US helicopter may not be finished.

“Iran is all talk and no action … They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.

In an interview Wednesday with Fox News' Trey Yingst, Trump said he was approaching a decision on whether to launch new strikes on Iran's civilian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.

Yingst said on air that the president was concerned that “the Iranians are tapping the United States along when it comes to the negotiating process.”

Trump further indicated the US retaliatory strikes against Iran overnight “may keep going” after Iran retaliated by targeting Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, Yingst said.

The comments came as Reuters reported that a Qatari mediation team had arrived in Tehran Wednesday morning in an effort to finalize a deal between Iran and the United States, citing a source with knowledge of the situation.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
