DUBAI — Marco Rubio's visit to Abu Dhabi on the last leg of his first Middle East tour as US secretary of state concluded with the United Arab Emirates expressing concerns over Gaza and sharing frustrations conveyed by Ukraine.

Rubio, who arrived from Riyadh where the US held talks with Russia in part to end the three-year war in Ukraine, was received by the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Following the meeting, the UAE said in a statement published on local news wire WAM that it rejected "any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land."

Sheikh Mohammed also stressed "the importance of linking Gaza’s reconstruction to a path that leads to a comprehensive and lasting peace," and he advocated for the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as "the only manner of ensuring stability in the region."
