Creativity meets self-expression at Fire Station art gallery in Doha this week as they launch the Youth Summer Program with a hands-on workshop that turns clothing into canvas.

Led by Egyptian artist Noha Abulela, the “Design it, Paint it, Wear it” art workshop invites participants to explore the art of fabric painting using specialized textile paints. Through guided techniques — like freehand drawing, detailed line work and bold color application — attendees will transform a black hoodie or T-shirt into a personalized, wearable work of art.

Abulela, who blends her background in information systems with her passion for creative design, is known for delivering workshops that spark imagination while bridging art and technology.

By the end of the session, each participant will walk away with more than a custom garment — they'll gain new skills, fresh inspiration and the chance to have their work featured in a group exhibition at the conclusion of the summer program.

Dates: July 27-31

Location: Education Studio, Doha Fire Station

This summer, step away from the city and into the calm of nature with a kayaking escape at Purple Island, a tranquil spot just a 45-minute drive north of Doha. Located near the town of Al Thakhira, this lush mangrove forest offers a peaceful maze of winding waterways best explored by paddle. As you glide through the still, shallow channels, birds soar overhead, fish leap alongside your kayak and the sun casts golden reflections across the water.

The guided tour organized by Aquasports Qatar blends relaxation and discovery, with stops for swimming, snorkeling and a short walk on Purple Island. Along the way, eco-guides share insights into the local wildlife and the island’s rich history of dye production and pearl diving. After paddling, guests unwind at a private eco-camp featuring an Arabian tent and a sunset barbecue or shawarma, followed by peaceful views of the surrounding nature.

All essentials are provided — equipment, safety briefings, refreshments and access to camp facilities. With lifeguards on-site and tours running daily until Sept. 30, it’s the perfect summer escape for families, couples or anyone eager to explore Qatar’s natural beauty.

Dates: Through Sept. 30

Location: Purple Island, Qatar
